An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
