Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Is Aware of Your Season 2 Predictions — And She Has Good News
The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
